8 Pillars of Self-Esteem Part 3 – Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is the ability to see your own strengths and weaknesses.  Knowing where you are naturally strong allows you to highlights those strengths while working to improve your weaknesses.  As Richard Daft says in his book The Leadership Experience “A high level of self-awareness, combined with the ability to manage one’s own emotions, enables a leader to consider the needs of others over his or her own immediate feelings.”
Our ATA Leadership program teaches students how to see the best in themselves and other people.  While learning how to teach others, they go through a journey of self-discovery.

self-awareness1Through the martial arts, students learn to be aware of themselves and their surroundings.  A child who has their head up and is aware is more apt to know the location of those who bully other children.  The first step in bully prevention is to avoid situations where bullying is likely such as empty hallways and playground corners where the teacher cannot see what is going on.

Come and see how Sulphur Springs ATA Martial Arts can help with your child’s self-esteem.
